The Moose - Woody Allen

Between writing for Your Show of Shows, and the start of his movie career, Woody Allen was a standup comic - and a very good one.

He didn't get off to the greatest start, as he was terrifically shy on stage and soft-spoken. Oftentimes louder audiences at the Bitter End would just ignore him. But once he got the hang of it, he became one of the best standups you'll ever see.

Here we see Allen performing standup in 1965. He wraps it up with the classic Moose routine.

Younger viewers may wonder about the ending, where he uses the word "restricted", which sadly, meant that the club didn't allow Jewish patrons.

If you haven't read Woody's books, I highly recommend picking them up.
